Given the close proximity in the designs of BMW's outgoing E90 and the newly revealed F30 3-Series saloons, it's not hard to imagine what the rest of the range will look like. The crew over from PS-Garage sent us these speculative renderings of the next-generation M3 sedan that we recently scooped testing in Germany and the upcoming coupe model. More...

The BMW Group's MINI brand is getting ready to add another important market to its belt as the Bavarian automaker announced on Monday that it will launch the firm's small premium models in India starting from 2012. "I am pleased to announce that the Mini will be introduced in India in 2012," said BMW India President Andreas Schaaf. "We had developed a new Mini ten years ago from the scratch. More...

It’s official; as promised, BMW unveiled today the brand-new 3-Series codenamed F30. The sixth generation of its compact luxury sedan, which in its five iterations since its launch in 1975 has sold more than 12 million units becoming the standard in its category, will be available to markets worldwide from February 11, 2012. According to BMW’s CEO, Norbert Reithofer, the new 3-Series is “the sportiest car in its segment and offers sheer driving pleasure at the highest level”. The sixth generation mid-size BMW has grown considerably compared to its predecessor. It is 93 mm longer and an augmented wheelbase at 2,810 mm (+50mm) as well as wider front (+37 mm) and rear (+47 mm) tracks. The increase in dimensions promises to address one of the model’s disadvantages compared to the competition, namely that of rear passenger space.  More...

As you may know already, Bmw will unveil later today the redesigned 3-Series sedan and as expected, these are some bad news for its main rival Audi and its aging A4. Why? Well, it’s simple as the new vehicle will hit the dealerships in early 2012, two years before Audi redesigns the A4. And the bad news continue for Audi, as the revamped 3-Series sedan will help Bmw increase its lead over Audi with 43% in 2012 according to an IHS Automotive forecast.  More...

BMW AG considers the Mini as one of its solutions to meet tighter environmental standards but then, it is having a hard time in expanding its market. BMW acquired Mini, which was saved from the mess surrounding the botched takeover of the UK's Rover Group. BMW hopes that the Mini will help it fend off Volkswagen AG's Audi and Daimler AG's Mercedes-Benz. Among the reasons given by potential customers for not buying a Mini car is that it isn’t multifunctional. For example, Boris Knoblich, a media consultant from Berlin, refused to accept the new two-seater Mini coupe as a replacement to his BMW 1-series compact because it is “too small and not variable enough."  More...

The all-new Bmw M5 made its debut last month at the 2012 Frankfurt Motor Show and was quite popular among automotive addicts. Although the rear-drive car is powerful enough it appears that Bmw fans want even more and are asking for an all-wheel drive version in order to take on cars such as the Audi RS6. “We’re thinking about it,” said BMW M5 Project Leader Max Ahme when asked about an all-wheel drive version of the M5. Still, he added that if the power is increased you may need an all-wheel drive system.  More...

As we may know already, Bmw is currently working hard on the i3 electric car, which will hit the showrooms by the end of 2013, but it appears that the German manufacturer is planning a surprise for us. Yesterday Bmw hosted an event in New York city and several people from the i3 development team were there. Asked if the upcoming Bmw i3 will use an engine from Bmw’s car or motorcycle parts bin, Chief Engineer Ulli Kranz suggested that a motorcycle engine would be perfect for this kind of car.  More...

BMW decided to modify its specialist winter tire program so that the car offers excellent on-road performance no matter what the weather conditions are. The last two winters that passed were two of the worst in history. What’s practiced in most of Europe is that tires are replaced with the change in seasons. BMW wants to make this process easier in the UK as well. BMW UK offers a variety of winter wheel and tire packages. BMW will store and insure the spare set of summer wheels and tires until they have to be changed again in spring. This costs just £30. All car manufacturers typically offer summer tires as standard. These tires function best at temperatures higher than 7°C.  More...
